The first thing to remember is that absolute beginners have had no contact with English, for that reason you need to use different methodologies such as: Audio-lingual method, Total physical response.
Audio-ligualism Method: *this method emphasis on grammatical patterns with behaviorist theories of learning. This method affirms that the knowledge is the result of habits-formation (it response to a stimulus).
Total Physical Response: This method is essential in beginner’s students; because the teachers need to such and to use different gestures for teach vocabulary, questions, etc. Try to develop specific gestures as codes for certain linguistic operations.
How to teach beginners, is a good information about it; however, as you've written: it is easy; but also, is failure, I agree, by reason of, the most important level is beginners, owing to, they need principal criteria in this nivel if our students have got good bases in begginers levels; they will learn much more in other levels and their learning process will be ease for them.
